About Honeycomb Builder
Bees didn't pick hexagons by accident. Of the shapes that tile a flat surface with no gaps — triangles, squares, hexagons — the hexagon encloses the most storage area for the least amount of wax perimeter, and wax is expensive to make (a colony burns through roughly 8 pounds of honey to produce 1 pound of wax). Eight puzzles put you on that same hex grid, working through fractions, shape composition, and symmetry by building patterns cell by cell instead of reading about the math.
It's the same efficiency problem mathematicians call the “honeycomb conjecture” — proven true in 1999, about 2,000 years after bees started using it.
The 8 rounds are fixed, hand-built puzzles tagged Easy, Medium, or Hard across a handful of skill types — not randomly generated — so a class can replay the same set and compare results, or use it as a repeatable warm-up.
