About Waggle Dance Decoder

A forager bee that finds a good flower patch comes home and dances about it — literally. The angle of her waggle run, measured against straight up on the honeycomb, encodes the direction to fly relative to the sun; the length of the run encodes the distance. This game hands you a protractor and a map and asks you to decode a real dance, the same way biologist Karl von Frisch first cracked the code in the 1940s.

It's one of the few known non-human symbolic languages, and getting the angle wrong in this game is a fast, concrete way to feel why precision matters — a few degrees off in a real hive sends foragers to the wrong meadow.
